Creating Calm: How The College Shrink’s New Website Welcomes Students Into Care

The Problem

The old website had several limitations that hampered the growth of the business. The design felt generic and didn't reflect the warmth and professionalism of her therapeutic approach. Navigation was clunky, especially for college students who were often seeking quick, easy access to scheduling or service information. The site performed poorly on mobile devices—an issue for her student-heavy audience. As the client base expanded, it became clear that the old site could no longer support the functionality or performance she needed.

Key Issues:

  • Outdated, generic design that didn’t reflect her identity or connect with her target audience
  • Limited navigation, making it hard for students to find key info or book appointments
  • Poor mobile performance, frustrating users on phones or tablets
  • Limited scalability and customization options within the Wix platform
  • Weak SEO and lack of content strategy to support discoverability

The Project

Dr. Khairalla came to us with a desire to start fresh with a website that truly matched her practice—modern, calming, secure, and student-friendly. She wanted a professional online presence that would resonate with her audience, make it easy to schedule therapy sessions (in-person or telehealth), and provide clear information about services, insurance, and the therapeutic process. As a Sudanese psychiatrist fluent in Arabic, she also wanted the site to reflect her cultural identity and connect with Arabic-speaking students and families. A more scalable, customizable platform like Drupal was the ideal solution, and she was ready to invest in a thoughtful redesign that could support her practice for years to come.

Key Goals:

  • Migration from Wix to a custom Drupal website with a new domain
  • Clear call-to-actions for scheduling therapy (in-person and telehealth)
  • Easy-to-navigate design tailored to young adult users
  • Emphasis on mobile optimization for student users
  • Secure, HIPAA-compliant content and forms
  • Warm, calming design to reflect her personality and therapeutic approach

The Process

We believe the best websites come from true collaboration. Throughout the project, we worked closely with Dr. Khairalla, gathering feedback at every stage to ensure the final site met the defined needs. Our process is transparent, flexible, and team-driven, making sure our clients feel heard and involved from start to finish.

Phase 1 - Discovery & Planning
  1. We started by meeting with Dr. Khairalla to understand the specific needs and goals of the practice.
  2. We profiled the key audience: College students interested in exploring theraputic mental health care.
  3. We mapped out the essential website features, including clear and concise CTAs, scheduling options and service information.

Phase 2 - Design & UX

1. We started with a the initial wireframe layout - showing the functionality of the site and how users will interact.

2. Then we delivered the initial design concept. We put a focus on responsive design and ensured mobile-friendliness to suit the young, mobile-first target audience.

3. Based on the client's feedback we collaborated on refining the layout and design based on the agreed needs of the audience.

Phase 3 - Website Development

1. Our team of Drupal developers begin building the structure of the website based on the design and wireframes.

2. We built the site on our own custom EMS Pro Content Management System, designed to be intuitive and easy to use for non-technical teams or individuals.

3. We collaboratively tested the site before launching to to ensure all usability issues and updates were executed promptly.

Phase 4 - Collaborative Feedback

1. One of the most important phases! We gathered feedback from the client throughout the process.

2. Made adjustments to improve navigation, content clarity, and functionality.

3. Added additional features as needed based on discussion and testing with the client.

Final Phase - Launch & Optimization

1. Tested the site for performance, speed, and accessibility.

2. Provided training and support for Dr. Khairalla to manage updates and add content herself.

3. Launched the website, ensuring a smooth from the old site to the new one.

The Solution

The final website for The College Shrink is a clean, modern, and thoughtfully designed digital home that reflects the warmth and professionalism of the practice. Built on a secure and scalable Drupal platform, the site makes it easy for college students to understand their therapy options, schedule sessions, and feel welcomed from the very first click. The visual design uses calming colors, soft typography, and inviting imagery to reduce anxiety and foster trust—mirroring the therapeutic experience itself.

The homepage clearly outlines the services offered, including both in-person and telehealth sessions, with direct paths to contact or book appointments. Key information about insurance, frequently asked questions, and what to expect from therapy is organized in a simple, mobile-friendly layout. The site also highlights the psychiatrist’s background, fluency in Arabic, and culturally informed care, helping it resonate with a diverse student audience.

With secure, HIPAA-aware contact forms and a performance-optimized backend, the website not only meets the technical standards of a modern healthcare practice, but also delivers a deeply human-centered experience that speaks directly to the needs of stressed, overwhelmed, or uncertain students seeking help.
